The Misfits Walk Among Us Album Art

A million years ago in the 1900's coming across Misfits CDs out in the wild was an elusive experience. The internet then was no help at all, either in getting said CDs or in providing info about release dates, or re-releases, or any thing other than lists of super rare and out of print Misfits vinyl that are still the holy grail of Misfits vinyl collectors.

Every time I'd go to a record store I'd go straight to the "M" section, or the "PUNK" section if the record store was cool enough, to see if any new Misfits plastic discs had appeared.

On one such occasion I got lucky and low and behold, there sitting amongst the racks of other not-Misfits music was their classic album WALK AMONG US. I snagged it up as soon as I could, before any of my record store going cohorts could see, because fuck them, this was the Misfits and this shit was mine. You snooze you lose, or in this case, you peruse you lose. I had a singular vision and it paid off.

I could go on and on about the merits of this album and it's rightful place as iconic in the punk rock pantheon, nay, the musical pantheon but what will never make any sense to me was why was this CD version released in the 90s with the classic, beautiful album art shrunk so tiny and placed directly in the center of black void? It wasn't a misprint or anything. Stretch that shit out to the borders, what were they even thinking?

But that is the ultimate question when it comes to the enduring legacy of the Misfits: "What were they thinking?"

Walk Among Us fucking rules. It's 25 minutes of pure musical perfection. What's your favorite song from this album? It's full of classics but if forced to pick one I'd say Astro Zombies. That's a "Top 5" Misfits banger for me.
