The Misfits 12 Hits From Hell Album Art

In my 30s, well past my teenage devouring of all things Misfits related, past the reunion and second band dismantling, after the advent of digital music sharing, I thought I'd heard every Misfits album, bootleg, and terrible live album there was to be had.

Little did I know that somewhere back in time the band recorded an album, 12 HITS FROM HELL, that was never to be released, for some dramatic Misfits nonsense reason I'm sure.

The story goes that in 2001 it was finally going to come out on CD, and made it all the way through production, but at the last minute somebody threw a fit and it was never to be released.

Yet, somehow, while I was bored at work, wasting away under the florescent lights sucking my soul, I stumbled on to this fact and was able to acquire it (ssshhhhhh don't tell anybody) and instantly transported back to that time when I was a rambunctious youth, buckling up my various studded accoutrements while whoa-ing along to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

This secret lost album is my favorite version of these 12 songs. This recording, for some some reason, has two guitars, smooth production, and some of Danzig's finest vocals ever. Plus, a more perfect collection of 12 songs you cannot find (13 of you count the second take of LONDON DUNGEONS). It's not as rough or wild as some of their other early releases but it perfectly captures the catchy, brilliant songwriting of that grouping of weirdos.

Perhaps in this day of post original Misfits reunions and the solid legitimizing of their legacy it might see the light of day. Never say never with the Misfits. I never thought I'd see the original line up, yet I did and it was magnificent.
