DARTH METAL

The thing about heavy metal is that there’re bands that cover every kind of topic and theme imaginable and draw inspiration from so many varied forms of pop culture and art. One day a buddy and I were discussing this phenomenon in metal and all the various themes bands have incorporated and pondered “why aren’t there any Star Wars themed metal bands?” The series is ripe with possibilities.

Both of us share an affinity for the weirdo monsters and aliens in those movies and we jokingly suggested we should start one despite having no musical talent at all. “We can call it Pit of Carkoon,” named after the resting place of the mighty Sarlacc, the creature that happily devours all the weirdos that befell Luke Skywalker’s rescue plan in RETURN OF THE JEDI.

Born was the idea of DARTH METAL, a heavy metal tribute to my favorite movie series. It only seemed fitting they should be done as band shirts.
